Weather - week of 2/15/2021

The week of February 15, Ohio and surrounding states will be hit by two snow storms and reports are saying in some areas totals will be as high as 24 inches. We have had some pretty mild winters the last couple of years regarding snowfall. Check on your neighbors!

And be ready for white out conditions if the wind picks up. Drifting snow is certainly a threat, especially at night.

Remembering shoveling snow can be exhausting at times and the elderly or very out of shape people can actually have heart attacks while shoveling snow.

Are you prepared for this event? Some things you may need...

  • snow shovels
  • snow blowers
  • deicer
  • tarps for car windshields
  • if we lose power, generators, heaters etc.
  • food if the roads are not cleared
  • some of you may need chains for your tires if you live in a hilly area
  • boots, gloves, coveralls, snow gear in general
  • emergency kits in your cars (blankets, feet and warmers, flashlights, flares, tools, medical kits, seat belt cutters, water should be taken in and out of the car so it doesn't freeze)
  • jumper cables
  • full gas cans
  • propane and propane accessories (insert Hank Hill Voice)
  • scrapers and brushes
  • weather radio
  • cb or ham radios for out on the road
  • windshield wiper fluid (check ALL the fluids in your car)
  • alternate routes if highways are closed
  • all the lights on your vehicle are in working condition

These are just some of the things I've thought about and I may be adding things as we get closer to this event.

Stay safe out there!
